Acuity AP1000422 AccuRange AR1000 Laser Distance Sensor RS422 Schmitt Industries

* The Acuity AP1000422 is an AccuRange AR1000 laser distance sensor manufactured by Schmitt Industries of Portland, Oregon, supplied in the RS422 serial interface configuration. The AR1000 is a long range laser distance sensor from Acuity's long range sensor family, measuring distance to a target and transmitting the result through its serial interface and analog outputs. The serial port hardware is factory installed as either RS232 (part number AP1000232) or RS422 (part number AP1000422) and can only be selected at the time of purchase; this unit is the RS422 variant, which supports full-duplex operation and is preferred for longer cable runs and electrically noisy industrial environments. The serial interface provides command control of the sensor including setting the current distance as an offset, turning the laser on and off, displaying all parameter values, and resetting all parameters to standard values, with a user-selectable baud rate. The sensor reports diagnostic error codes for out-of-range conditions, including signal strength overload from excessive ambient light. Acuity is a product line of Schmitt Industries, Inc., and the AR1000 series is also available in a heated variant (AR1000H) for cold environment operation.
